SRU Tokens Calculator for Standalone SIMULIA Products

image

SRU SimUnit tokens are a shared central pool for solver use across the SIMULIA portfolio. When a simulation job starts, it checks out the required SRUs for the duration of the run, and when the job finishes, those SRUs are returned to the pool for others to use. SRUs are sold separately and are different from seats or GUI session access. SRUs are also different from the classic QXT tokens used historically that were limited to Abaqus. The new SRU tokens pool can be used with Abaqus, CST Studio Suite, Simpack, fe safe, Isight, Tosca, and other SIMULIA products, and is more cost effective, especially at higher core counts.

Use this calculator to size your SRU token pool for SIMULIA Abaqus FEA and SIMULIA CST Studio Suite. First choose the solver SIMULIA Abaqus, SIMULIA CST Studio Suite High Frequency (HF), or SIMULIA CST Studio Suite Low Frequency (LF) by navigating to its corresponding section below. Then enter CPU cores (the number of physical cores) for one job, GPU devices (the number of GPU devices) for one job enter 0 if none, and concurrent jobs the number of jobs you will run at the same time with the same hardware. The calculator shows the total tokens required for your setup.

Other SIMULIA applications are outside the scope of this calculator to keep it simple. For example, SRU usage in SIMULIA Isight depends on the analysis type, the number of cores, the number of design points, and the level of parallelization. SRU usage in SIMULIA Simpack depends on the content of the simulation and the number of cores.

SRU Token Calculator for SIMULIA Abaqus FEA

Abaqus uses one SRU model for both Standard and Explicit solvers with the same licensing and cost behavior. The minimum cost is 15 SRUs for up to 2 CPU cores. Token usage then grows in a logarithmic way. Add 10 SRUs for each doubling of cores moving from 2 to 4 to 8 to 16 and so on. If GPUs are used, add 5 SRUs for 1 GPU and add 5 more for each doubling of GPUs such as 1 to 2 to 4 to 8. Also, recall that GPU acceleration is supported for Abaqus Standard only and not for Abaqus Explicit, so do not add GPU SRUs for Explicit jobs.

Enter the number of physical CPU cores and GPUs for one job, and how many such jobs will run at the same time, to see the total SRU tokens needed for your setup.

SRU Token Calculator for SIMULIA CST Studio Suite HF Solvers

High Frequency solvers start at 17 SRUs up to 32 CPU cores. Token usage then grows in a logarithmic way with CPU count. Add 5 SRUs for each doubling of cores above 16 cores. If GPUs are used, add 5 SRUs for 1 GPU and add 5 more for each doubling of GPUs such as 1 to 2 to 4 to 8.

Enter the number of physical CPU cores and GPUs for one job, and how many such jobs will run at the same time, to see the total SRU tokens needed for your setup.

SRU Token Calculator for SIMULIA CST Studio Suite LF Solvers

Low Frequency solvers start at 10 SRUs up to 32 CPU cores.

This calculator reflects SIMULIA SRU rules as of October 2025. Use the results as a reference only, since actual SRU rules and usage may vary by product, version, and configuration, and may change without notice by Dassault Systèmes.
